Barbara Barranco passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the age of 84 in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Barbara Jean Reese was born on June 18, 1940, with her twin Dallas in Baltimore, MD. She attended Villa Julie College. She married Sam Barranco III and had two daughters. They lived in Texas (first in Houston, then in Dickinson) for nearly 20 years then moved to Virginia Beach, VA. Sam passed in 1994. Barbara moved to Myrtle Beach to be close to her daughter Rhys’s family in 2002. She always had beautiful home gardens and tended the church garden, where she was an elder. She loved her family and friends, gardening, puzzles, mystery books, and a good argument.
Services will be at her Celebration Presbyterian Church in Myrtle Beach on Thursday, February 13, at 4:30 pm.
She will be interred at Princess Anne Memorial Park in Virginia Beach, near Sam, on Saturday, February 15, at noon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to her church.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhys Lutsky and Melissa Blakeman; sons-in-law Mike Lutsky and Jeff Blakeman; grandchildren Xan Lutsky and Spencer Blakeman; Xan’s fiance Stepf Diaz; brother Bill Reese; and sister Dallas DeBell.
She will be remembered for her laugh, her graph paper diagrams, and her beautiful gardens.
