‘Kitty’ was born June 18, 1943 in Camden, NJ to Ryland Lee and Audrey Vernell Allen (Oliver). She lived in many places as a child due to being born into a Marine Corps family. She found friends in all of those places and formed many friendships that lasted a lifetime. Kitty was also blessed to have come from a large and very loving family. She often spoke of her best childhood friends being her cousins, relationships that have carried well into the next generation. She loved spending time with family and laughing the night away until everyone fell asleep where they lay, whether it be the sofa, a chair, or on the floor. As a mother, Kitty was loving and compassionate, especially when her children were sick or facing challenging times. She stood by them through thick and thin with support and encouragement. Kitty enjoyed many sports, but she favored softball and bowling, which she participated in well into her forties. Though she had a competitive spirit, everything she did truly came down to the social aspect of the event. She loved to dance, host friends and family and frankly, be the ‘life of the party!’ Things did not change as she entered her golden years. When Kitty was stricken with dementia, she settled into a cozy community in Myrtle Beach, SC. Portside at Grande Dunes Memory Care proved to be just what she needed. There, she gained several new friends with whom she was joined at the hip. They laughed the days away and started anew the next morning. She also loved her pets. She had many dogs throughout her life and loved them like her siblings and children. The common thread of her life was love. Love for her children and grandchildren, love for her sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and, of course, love for her friends.
Kitty leaves behind her Daughter, Kimberly Brinkley and Husband Ed, her Son Jay Morrissette and wife Jennifer, grandchildren Brookie Hedrick, Taylor Hedrick, Dalton Hedrick and wife Mikayla, and Donny Morrissette; sisters: Joan Allen and Betty Allen and several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her Father Ryland Allen, her Mother Audrey ‘Nell’ Allen, and her Granddaughter Morgan Hedrick.
There will be a committal service at St Stephen’s Episcopal Church in North Myrtle Beach, SC and Celebration of Life to follow, this summer (date to be determined).
