Allan Galloway Obituary

Allan LeRoy Galloway passed away on October 6, 2021 after a long and wonderful life.   He was a graduate of Newark Academy in New Jersey and the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.  He achieved the lauded status of an Eagle Scout after an incredible tenure with the Boy Scouts of America.  Allan was a member of the historic Caroline Episcopal Church in Setauket, New York from 1952-2019, having served on the Vestry for over twenty years.   He was a loyal and long-term member of the Port Jefferson, New York branches of the Rotary and Freemasons.

In his professional life Allan was an engineer for Long Island Lighting Company from 1949 through his retirement in 1987.  He met the love of his life, Dorothy May Prachar, at sixteen years old and they had a long loving marriage of seventy years.  In her final years, Allan was truly devoted to her care, and a day did not go by that they were not together.   Allan was an enthusiastic supporter of the arts especially the opera, ballet, and symphonies.  He also loved to travel and appreciated all cuisines.   He is survived by his daughter Susan Diane Oliva, his son-in-law Vincent Anthony Oliva, and his granddaughter Beth Galloway Oliva.

If you wish to honor his life, the family requests donations be made to the American Ballet Theatre at https://www.abt.org/ or the New York Philharmonic https://nyphil.org/.
