Albert Aversano, 82, of Myrtle Beach, passed away peacefully at 11 p.m. on November 18, 2024, in his home.
Born on January 14, 1942, in New York City to Raffaella and Raffaello Aversano, Al graduated from Kerhonkson High School in 1960 and went on to become a serial entrepreneur.
In 1970, Al married his late wife, Diane, in Las Vegas. Together, they traveled the world before settling down in Myrtle Beach.
Known for his sense of humor, big heart, and willingness to lend a helping hand, Al was also know for his incredible cooking - specifically his eggplant parmesan. He enjoyed golfing, cheering for the New York Giants and Yankees, and spending time with his family.
Al is survived by his siblings and their spouses: Josephine Mazzella, Daniel and Ellen-Jane Aversano, Mario Aversano, and Ralph Aversano and Deborah Schult. He is also survived by his stepson John Scoza and his partner Terry McIntosh, as well as his nieces and nephews: Nicholas, Amanda, Theresa, Daniel, Elaine, John, Niska, Mario Paul, and Michael. Additionally, he is survived by dear friends including Charlotte Rasnick, Gene Geraldo, and Ralph Stork.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Aversano; his parents, Ralph and Rae Aversano; and his aunts and uncles: Danny and Mary Aversano, Tony and Dottie Aversano, Ciro and Lucy Darco, and Andrew and Philomena Conte, Rosie Aversano, and Florinda Aversano. He was also preceded in death by Matteo Mazzella, spouse of his sister Josephine Mazzella, and Marlene Aversano, spouse of his brother Mario Aversano.
A celebration of life for Al will be held on December 14, 2024, at 10 a.m. at McMillan & Small Funeral Home. A funeral will follow on April 26, 2025, in Stone Ridge, New York, with more details to come.
Al will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love him.
