Aida Irma Fernandez, 78, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at a Myrtle Beach Hospital.

Aida Irma Torres was born March 31st, 1943 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Her parents, Pedro & Digna Torres, moved to the Bronx and she joined them when she was 4 years old. She graduated from Jane Addams High School for Academic Careers with vocational training in sewing in 1961. While working as a bookkeeper at the Dorset Hotel in New York City, she met Nicholas Fernandez. The two were later married in St. Mary’s Church in the Bronx on August 13th, 1977. This past August marked 44 years.

Nick & Aida moved from the Bronx to Wappingers Falls in September 1986 to raise their family. Then to their dream home in Hopewell Junction in February 2007. Aida retired in 2014 and remained tirelessly devoted to her family. Nick & Aida enjoyed vacationing at Disney & Ft. Lauderdale. They lived and raised their family in Dutchess County for over 30 years until November 2018, when they moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.

Aida was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is predeceased by her parents, Pedro & Digna Torres, sister Olga A. White, & Nicholas M. Fernandez, her husband. She is survived by her brothers, Pete Torres, Jorge Torres & wife Edith, her daughters Victoria Farrell & husband, Robert Farrell, Sandra Letbetter & fiancé, Andrew May, and Kimberly Parker & husband, Frank Parker, her nine grandchildren, Lana & Robert Farrell, Kayla Letbetter, Sophia, Xavier & Ian May, Derek, Nicholas & Mariah Parker, many aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Aida is an anchor of light and love for this family and will be severely missed.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 4 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 PM Friday, September 3, also at the funeral home.
