William Wesley McDonald, 48, son of Bill and Marianne McDonald of North Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Friday April 6, 2018, from complications of a rare lung disease.
Born on October 16, 1969, he was a graduate of North Myrtle Beach High School and of NC State University. Wes spent many years working as a soil scientist for environmental companies, first in Columbia, SC, and later in Salt Lake City, Utah. More recently, he worked as a Realtor. He was a sports enthusiast and an avid outdoorsman, enjoying golf, fly fishing, hiking, camping and kayaking.
The most important thing in Wesley’s life were his two little boys, Benjamin Archer and Ronan Sage, of Charleston, to whom he was devoted. In addition to his sons and his parents, he is survived by his sister, Susanne Oppegaard and husband, Michael of Hampstead, NC, the mother of his children, Lil Surprenant of Charleston, his father-in-law, Karl Dargan of Bishopville, his aunt, Ann Meares of Hartsville, his uncle, Charles Whaley of Socastee, and his cousins, Tom and Brian Meares, John and Katherine Whaley and Jona Lynch. Preceding Wes in death was his beloved furry friend McBee, who was his fishing and hiking buddy.
A celebration of Wesley’s life will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 1300 North Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach.
