Nelson W. Carmichael

Nelson W. Carmichael, 85, died Sunday, December 10, 2017.

He was born October 15, 1932, in Nichols, SC, a son of the late Claude and Nell Hill Carmichael.  He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Azalea and second wife Jo.  Also by five brothers, Dan, David, Wilson, Frank, Ray, and a sister, Elizabeth.

He received an AB degree from Wofford College and his Bachelor of Science Degree with “Honor” in Civil Engineering from Clemson University.  Nelson retired from Myrtle Beach Air Force Base as the Deputy Base Civil Engineer when the base closed.  He was a navy veteran and an avid Clemson fan.

He is survived by his son, Nelson “Ned” W. Carmichael Jr. and wife Jenien, three grandchildren, Rachel, Nick, Daniel, and three great-grandchildren, Kamui, Seraph and Tyrael and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 13th at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 10:00 AM until 10:50 AM at the funeral home prior to the service.
