Mildred "Millie" Sliker, (nee Decker) was born March 12, 1927 in Butler, NJ to loving parents Richard Decker and Louise Knoblick.
Millie graduated from Butler High School and received her RN from Christ Hospital School of Nursing, Jersey City NJ in 1947 under the US Cadet Nurse Corp. She married Donald Sliker in 1948 and moved to Saddle Brook, NJ where she resided for 57 years. Millie returned to nursing after she raised her family and worked in that field into her 70's. She moved to South Carolina in 2005.
Millie is preceded in death by her husband Donald Sliker of 48 years (1996), her parents Richard and Louise and 7 sisters, Louise Bell, Emma Sliker, Ethel Coller, Ruth Whitmore , Alice Decker, Helen Decker and Marion Decker.
Surviving her are her beloved son, Donald E. Sliker and wife Elizabeth of Myrtle Beach, SC; her loving daughter, Gail Vornehm and husband William Vornehm of Sunset Beach, NC; 3 cherished grandchildren, Donald P. Sliker and wife Tina, Erika Varriale and husband Christopher and Christian Sliker and wife Shpresa, 5 great grandchildren, Theo, Alex, Lyla, Ethan and Marcus, and her dear nephew Richard Sliker and wife Susan and their children Allison and Thomas.
Millie departed this world peacefully on June 15, 2020 with her children and family at her bedside. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was known for her "quietness" and kindness. She used her valuable nursing skills to care for family, friends and neighbors over the years and will be deeply missed.
In light of the current situation with the COVID-19 Pandemic, Entombment will be private in the Garden of Memories Mausoleum in Washington Township, NJ at a later date.
