Marie Chiavaro, 96, passed peacefully Sunday, June 30, 2019. She was born June 26, 1923, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Rosalia) Ingoglia.
Marie worked at the Lewytz Metal production defense plant assisting with blueprint reading during World War II. After the war, she married the love of her life, Angelo Chiavaro, and they settled in Ridgewood Queens, NY. They welcomed their first and only child, Kathleen Chiavaro in September of 1956.
Marie was an avid sewer and seamstress. Marie was the President of Camden Century Village HOA for 12 years in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was a member of the Owls Club, United Civic Organization, Italian Club and Christian Club. She enjoyed reading mystery novels, puzzles, and dancing. She most recently attended the Carolina Forest Senior Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Family and friends remember her as a kind-hearted and loving woman who was very devoted to her daughter and grandchildren. She was adventurous, self-sufficient, sentimental, and generous.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo Chiavaro, her brothers, Jimmy, Pete, & Tony Ingoglia, and grandson, Michael Scheeler.
Survivors include daughter, Kathleen Scheeler; son-in-law, George Scheeler; brother, Barney Ingoglia and his wife, Ellen; grandchildren, Kimberly, Steven, Andrew, and Matthew Scheeler; great-grandchildren, Kaylie & Abigail Youmans & Landon and Luke Scheeler.
A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 at 5:00 PM at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach, SC. Visitation will follow until 7:00 PM.
Interment will be held on September 30, 2019 at Long Island National Cemetery, located in Farmingdale Long Island, NY, beside her beloved husband Angelo.
