Karl F. Hruska

Karl F. Hruska, 82 passed away, Friday September 7, 2018 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.

He was born June 1, 1936 in Bay Shore, NY a son of the late William and Alberta Hein Hruska. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Karl W. Hruska.

Karl was a member of the Bay Shore Fire Dept for over fifty-seven years in which he went through the ranks of Chief. He was a devoted family man and will be missed.

Survivors include his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Lynn L. Cordes Hruska of Conway, SC; two beloved daughters, Deborah Schmidt and Laura Hruska; beloved granddaughter, Brittney L. Gambino; beloved sister, Barbara Paglia; a beloved brother, William Hruska and beloved niece, Jennifer Kendall.

The family will greet friends on Monday September 10, 2018 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM.

The family will hold an inurnment at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, SC

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to The Fireman’s Home 125 Harry Howard Ave. Hudson, NY 12534.

Mrs Hruska and family, we are so sorry for your loss. Chief Hruska was a great man a terrific example for us younger fire fighters. We grew up with your family here in Bay Shore and feel your loss, but we believe Chief is watching down on your family with Karl Jr advocating for you all. Please know You are all in our prayers. Blessings of peace and comfort to Mr. Hruska's family. I will always remember what a funny and kind man he was to this B.S.F.D. brat when I was a kid. He was always smiling, always had something good to say, and was always such a nice person. I will hold dear fond memories. Blessings, prayers, and thoughts.
