Conway, SC Mr. Joseph Edmond Timms 90, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011. He was born January 22, 1921, in Winnsboro, SC, a son of the late David Young and Susan McCants Timms. His first wife, Mary Louse Porter Timms, a son, John Patrick (Pat) Timms, and his three brothers, Thomas Walter Timms, David Young Timms and Daniel Divinney Timms pre-deceased him. Mr. Timms was co-founder of Coastal Monument Company. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Joe was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 111 where he was committee chairman for Boy State and was named Legionnaire of the Year on two difference occasions. He was also a member of the Conway Kiwanis Club and Westminster Presbyterian Church as well as a former elder. He loved his family and was a friend to all. He is survived by his wife; June Hodges Timms, a son, Joe E. (Joey) Timms Jr and wife Debbie of Conway, SC, a daughter, Kitty Clay and husband Dan of Midland, NC, a step-son, Kyle Nealy of Social Circle, GA, a daughter-in-law, Ruth Timms of Gilbert, SC, and his five grandchildren, Sarah Timms and husband Yan Zhang, Sherry Ojeda and husband Juan, Daniel Clay and wife Julie, David Clay and fiancée Kiersten, Sonya Timms , Joseph E. Timms III and also by five great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 10, 2011, at Westminster Presbyterian Church (ARP) with Pastor Randy Riddle officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at the church.
