Jethro Hanna, 88, of Myrtle Beach, SC left this earthly world for his new home with his savior, Sunday, July 8, 2018Born in the Hannah community of South Carolina, a son of the late Sheriff John Hanna and Mary “Mae” Evans Hanna, he began his life’s career sweeping floors at the age of 19 for Swift and Company in Florence, SC.  He advanced to Salesman and was then promoted to Manager of the new Myrtle Beach Unit in 1966.  He retired from Swift and Company in 1988 after 41 years of loyal service to his company and his customers.

Jethro was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach since 1966 serving as Deacon, Sunday School Director, RA Minister, Chairman of Pastor Search Committee and many other capacities throughout the years.  He was an avid hunter, still climbing trees while in his eighties.  He loved nature and the outdoors and taking care of the garden in Hannah.  He also looked forward to Sundays when the family would always gather for Sunday dinner.

The baby of the family, he was predeceased by his parents, his three sisters, Johnnie Harrell (Wade) of Florence, Rose Fitch (Carroll) of Pamplico, Mary Thomas (Gary) of Charleston; three brothers, R. Jonathan Hanna (Lucille) of Hannah, Joel E. Hanna (Willa) of Florence and Jerl Hanna of Johnsonville.

Jethro leaves behind his loving wife of 71 years, Muriel Poston Hanna; two sons, Larry L. Hanna and John J. Hanna (Jennifer); two daughters, Brenda H. Brown (Terry) and Dawn H. Hitchcock (Bob); all of Myrtle Beach; twelve precious grandchildren, Laura Huggins, Chris, Kirk and Jason Hanna, Adrian and Brian Brown, Meagan Kuhlman, Angela, Derek and Mallary Hitchcock, and Christian and Trinity Hanna; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the McMillan-Small Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Conway, SC.

Dear Hanna family,
I’m very sorry to hear about your loss. I’d like to share a message with you that may make you feel a little better. It's found in the bible in the book of Isaiah 25:8. It says “He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the away the tears from all faces.
