Gregory R. “Greg” Caruso, 71, died Sunday, January 6, 2019 at a local hospital.     

Greg was born August 22, 1947 in Columbia, SC, a son of the late Ralph and Jennette (Bonnette) Caruso. Greg’s beloved aunt also took a role in raising him as a child. He attended college at Horry Georgetown Technical College and the University of South Carolina where he pursued an education in business. His heart always had a calling for music as well. Greg shared his gifts of singing and playing drums in a number of successful bands including Alabama, Sassy Class, Loose Change, and Bypass. Later, he went on to pursue his business ventures in Myrtle Beach where he fell in love with his wife Nancie. Greg was the owner of multiple businesses in the Myrtle Beach area including Caruso, Inc. (a music store) and Greg Builders (a construction company).

Greg leaves behind his beloved wife Nancie Caruso of Myrtle Beach, his biological son Greg Caruso, Jr. of Murrells Inlet, and his grandsons Collin Caruso and Bryson Caruso, both of Myrtle Beach. Greg journeyed to Heaven to be with his Lord and his family on Sunday, January 6, 2019. He is loved and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt, and his son Chris Caruso.

A memorial service to honor Greg will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 11, 2019 at Ocean View Baptist Church, 7300 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.

Very sad to see Greg leave us. I will have many good memories of music and numerous golf games. Greg was a great guy, I will miss him.

To Nancy and family. So sorry to hear about Greg. Hadn't seen him since the flood at Harbor Town in September. God Bless ALL of you. Always enjoyed my talks with Greg about all the Myrtle Beach entertainment history. What a great guy. You will never be forgotten my friend.
