Charles Frank Case

Charles F. Case, 78, of Longs SC passed away peacefully on Monday, December 24, 2018 at the Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach. “Frank”, as he was known to his family and friends, was a friendly, social person who loved sports, playing golf, happy hours and spending time with family and friends.

Frank was born April 17, 1940 in Washington, D.C., a son of the late Charles A. Case and Frances Alice Tayman Case. He grew up in Washington D.C. and graduated from Mackin High School in Northwest D.C in 1958. He entered the U.S. Army in January 1959 and served as CPL 4th Class until January 1961. He worked at the DC Highway department until 1963 and then joined the D.C. Fire Department as a fireman for the next 20+ years.

Frank spent a significant portion of his adult life raising his families in Hyattsville, Maryland and Bowie, Maryland, before settling in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 1997. Frank was an avid golfer and talented softball player. He was a member of the Washington Metropolitan Slow Pitch softball league, and in October 1983 was inducted into the Slow Pitch Hall of Fame for outstanding performance as a player.  

Frank battled heart and kidney issues the last several years of his life, which led to his passing. He is survived by his children, Sherri Delp (Bill Delp) of Fork, MD, Joann Collins of Ellicott City, MD, David Case (Susan Case) of Pikesville, MD and Michael Case (Cherie Case) of Annapolis, MD. Step-children Christopher Lea (Kim Quinlan) of Riva, MD and Kimberly Long (Adam Long) of Eldersburg, MD; Debbie Kohlhepp of Eldersburg, MD and Mark Kohlhepp; brother Donald Case of Jacksonville, FL. Frank has 8 grandchildren, Kristina, Dylan, Nicholas, Austin, Ashley, Jake, Taylor, Justin, Trent and 3 great-grandchildren Logan, Charlotte and Archer.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Case; sisters Anna Baxter and Helen Case. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A remembrance gathering will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, 910 67th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach SC 29572.
