Barre Albert McClay, Sr.

Barre Albert McClay, Sr., 82, husband of Joyce McWilliams McClay, died Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at his residence.

He was born March 26, 1936 in Brownsville, PA a son of the late Dr. Frederick Jones and Alia Jane Barre McClay. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cynthia Ann McClay, and an infant brother, Earl McClay.

Mr. McClay retired after 40 years from Jessop Steel Company. He was a member and former deacon of Church of The Covenant Presbyterian Church in Washington, PA. He was a member of Sunset Lodge of The Masons, Pennsylvania Consistory, and a member of the BPOE #776. After moving to Myrtle Beach, SC he began working with Arcadian Shores Golf Course for twelve years until his illness.

Survivors including his wife are: two sons, Barre A. McClay, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Bradlee McClay of Washington, PA; two daughters, Debra Nicolella and husband, Anthony of Washington, PA, and Lisa Gemmell and husband, Stewart of Del Ray Beach, FL; five grandchildren,

Services will be held in Washington, PA at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105

Roger and I were so sorry to hear of Barre’s passing. We so enjoyed visiting with him at the beach and will miss him. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to you and your family

So verry sorry to hear of Barre's passing. We didn't get to see each other after the early seventies when we both worked at Jessop Steel but I remembered him fondly many times during the years. I will always remember him bringing me back k-rations when he went on his National Guard maneuvers when I was just a little boy. Loved the crackers for some reason. Again, my condolences.
