Salvatore J. Davi, 84, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on April 22, 2024 at Grand Strand Medical Center.
Sal was born March 27, 1940 in Manhattan, NY son of the late Si and Sophie (Zuccarello) Davi. Sal grew up in Jackson Heights, New York with is siblings, Sebastian and Francis Davi.

He attended Delancy HS in Queens, where he celebrated prom at the Waldorf Astoria and participated in graduation ceremonies at Carnegie Hall. He later went into the Army, 60th Ordinance, 80th Battalion at Fort Bragg, NC where he met the love of his life Glenda (Huckabee) Davi, married over 60 years before her death in 2021. They had three children, the late sons Joseph and Salvatore Davi and surviving daughter Sophia (Davi) Jacobs.

Sal moved his family to Guilford, CT in the 1970’s where he worked as the General Manager of Matlaw’s Foods for over a decade. He became the Director of Purchasing at Sargent Manufacturing in New Haven, but his last and favorite job was dealing Blackjack at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT.

Sal loved all things Guilford. He coached Little League for over 20 years and always stayed active in the local community. Sal and Glenda finally made the move back down south to Myrtle Beach in 2004. He loved playing golf, going to the beach, dining at his favorite establishments, Ciao being at the top of his list, showing his grandchildren a good time and traveling to Las Vegas. Sal spent the last year and half of his life in the Watercrest Assisted Living Community, where he thrived, made many friendships, sang “New York, New York” on Thirsty Thursday’s, danced at special events and enjoyed his cigar room. The family would like to thank the staff for their love and support of Sal.

Sal is survived by his very loving daughter, Sophia and her husband, Jeff Jacobs, his three granddaughters, Elizabeth Mineri, Anne Mineri, and Joanna Davi, his three grandsons, Michael Mineri, Andrew Davi (Lexi) and Sam Davi, and great grandson, Weston Davi whom he all adored and was so very proud. Besides his parents, Sal was preceded by his in-laws, Mary and William Huckabee, along with his two brothers in law, Ronald and William “Buster” Huckabee all of Laurinburg, NC.  He loved all his nieces and nephews and the many close friends he made throughout the years.
