Obituary

James Byrnes Chestnut, 80 entered life eternal on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 22, 1936 in Myrtle Beach, SC a son of the late Letha L. Chestnut and Joseph B. Chestnut. He was predeceased by a sister, Joyce C. Dargan.

James graduated from Myrtle Beach High School. He was known in school as Byrnes. After graduating he lived in Marion, SC and worked for Zeman Electric for many years, where he was known as James. He developed many friends throughout his life who shared his passion for sports and he loved his Gamecocks. He was a long standing member of the Wahee Gun Club. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach; he loved God, his family and encouraged education and sports to all his loved ones.

Survivors include his wife, Jean E. Chestnut and children, Kimberly C. Poston (Rick), Jeffery Byrnes Chestnut (Cyndi), Troy W. Chestnut (Melissa), step-son, Scot Greisch (Amy) and step-daughter, Kim G. Logan (John); brother, Harold L. Chestnut (Sylvia); sister, Sylvia C. Divine (Jack) and grandchildren, Rachel C. Duran (Jabez), Clay and Jessica Chestnut, Josh Poston (Kristen), Dylan Poston, Madison Calder, Chase Brill and Bayler Chestnut.

“TO GOD BE THE GLORY.”

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday May 7, 2017 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday May 8, 2017 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Chestnut Family Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Chestnut Family Cemetery Fund, 2384 Chestnut Road Longs, SC 29568.
