John M. Richards
John M. Richards

Obituary

John and his wife Monty (who predeceased him) were long time residents of Deerfield Plantation, members of Surfside United Methodist Church and active in the community.

He served his country proudly during WW II in the US Army and retired at the rank of Major after 18 years of active and reserve service.

John graduated from Texas A & M with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for Gulf Oil Corporation in the U.S. and abroad. He retired after 42 years with the company.

Always a golf lover, he got that illusive “hole in one” in 1988.

He is survived by his daughter Susie and her husband Ed of Myrtle Beach,  2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

John will be sorely missed by all his family and many friends.

I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. There is a very comforting scripture found at Isaiah 25:8. It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can look forward to a time when death will be done away with forever. I hope that this scripture can bring some comfort during this time.

My Poppop,
I will miss you dearly. All of the wisdom you had yet to share, I will hopefully be granted in other ways. Thank you for all you have given. May Mimi beat your butt on your next 18 (because she has been practicing), may your greens be greener, may your Denny's always be open, may you always have a handkerchief, and may you have a political cause worthy of your fervence.
I love you.
Wendee

The Good Lord in Heaven couldn't have given me a better Dad. So caring, concerned and generous, not just to me but to anyone whose path you crossed. I love you Daddy and miss you so much!
